Happy 2012!
Well, hang on to your hats...I think it's going to be a wild and crazy year full of change, stretching and growing.

We are indeed off to a hectic start.  Today is Day 3 of a new job for me and our #3 child, Victor, shipped out yesterday to Camp Pendleton, San Diego, hoping to survive Marine Basic Training.  Wow, change is in the wind.  Please keep us in your prayers!

Have you ever wondered where God is? Do you feel God's presence in your life? Do you look for God? And not just on Sundays...but in every aspect of your daily living?

I try to pray each day in the car on my way to work...for my patients, their families, my co-workers and graces for new and unforeseen situations.  I often pray my favorite Litany of the Saints on CD asking the saints' help to seek and find God at every turn in my day.

Christie gave me a wonderful book for Christmas called When God Winks at You, by Squire Rushnell.  This lovely book is full of wonderful, surprising stories about godwinks - a special message just for you from God to let you know he is there and that he is listening.

This book is a reminder of how tangible God is in the BIG and also the seemingly insignificant of life.  He loves us so much...the unexpected phone call from a friend when you needed it the most, or an open parking place closest to the store entrance on a day when you have no more energy to cope...a song on the radio that lifts your spirits or a sight or smell that reminds you of a loved one who has died whom you miss terribly...these are godwinks.

Day 2 of my new job, moving from the hospice house out into the community, now seeing patients in their homes and in facilities, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the complexity and responsibility. I was excited, but wondering if I would ever figure out all that was expected.

And would you believe it, Morning Prayer that day was specifically about work, being cheerful, and honoring God's will for my work?

It read:

"...In your name, O Lord, I go,
My daily labor to pursue,You, and only you, resolved to know,
In all I think and do.

...In all my works your presence find,
And prove your acceptable will!"

It is written: What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him."  1 Corinthians 2:9

Morning Prayer that day was a godwink.  God is present in my work and in all I do.

May the Holy Spirit open our minds, hearts, and spirits to see God's guiding and loving hand in our lives in a deep and fuller way.
