Grace and Reagan
My name is Terry and I am the oldest of the Schilling gang. I’ve been working since I was 11 at our family pizza restaurant. I started managing the restaurant when I was only 15. I’m currently managing the congressional campaign for my father. Most importantly, I’m married to my best friend, Katie, and I am the father of 2 beautiful girls.
For some reason, God blessed me with 2 beautiful daughters and a beautiful wife. After every child in our family is born my mother always says, “The world will never be the same!” These girls have surely changed my world.
Grace Marie Schilling, or Gracie Lou Who as I call her, was born in 2005 after I graduated from high school. When she was born, she had the cutest button nose that reminded me of one of the “Whos” from the books by Dr. Seuss – thus came her nickname, Gracie Lou Who.
When Grace visits, she loves to entertain her sister, Reagan, by singing to her. From the “ABC’s” to “Twinkle Little Star,” Grace kept little Reagan from crying by singing for twelve hours straight on our trip to Boston for Thanksgiving. She’s a happy child and a marvelous singer. I hope she gives us free tickets to her concerts when she is famous.
At just 6 years old, Grace is already well traveled. She’s been to Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan and she’s already been to 3 Chicago Cubs games with her dad.
She amazes me more and more every time I get to see her and spend time with her. She loves her daddy and her daddy loves her.
Reagan is only 5 months old and we are still getting to know each other. We often spend time together in the morning…the early morning. We both get up at around 5:30am and make breakfast together. Well, I make the breakfast and she is strapped in the Bjorn or sitting in the Bumbo seat watching me. After we make breakfast, we sit down and watch Fox and Friends while we drink our coffee. She sits contently in my arms until she gets hungry and bored of watching the news, at that point, it’s mommy time.
Reagan has been in activist and political management training since she was born. She has already been to multiple parades, strategy meetings, fundraisers, rallies and protests. Once she learns how to spell, she’ll be writing campaign plans with ease.
She is changing everyday. She is always watching and learning. I love when she visits me in the campaign office and I love making her laugh. She is my secret weapon on the campaign trail.
These two little girls have changed my world forever. I can’t wait to see their effect on the world. The only other question that remains to be answered, is how many times Katie and I will change the world? You’ll just have to ask her.
